Dr. Samson Ng - Meet Your Dental Instructor in VR180

 OBJECTIVE

Produce a VR video with CreatorUp about the clinical practice and philosophy of Dr. Samson Ng as well as the sense of “togetherness” in the clinical office. The video will function as a trailer, positioning Dr. Samson Ng as a thought leader and promoting his courses & lectures.

PUTTING THE PUZZLE TOGETHER

Inspired by the Masterclass trailer for Niki Nakamaya’s Japanese cooking class, we wrote a narrative structured to include:

• Enticing Prologue with thesis statement that includes “how it makes you feel” to do the work

• Introduction establishing identity, background & area of expertise

• Surprise Twist - personal and vulnerable

• How technology (3D & VR, specifically) is an important part of the work

• Conclusion: Family, Community & Future

We conducted an exploratory pre-interview with Dr. Ng to ascertain biographical & philosophical information and gather archival media assets that helped to fill the narrative as well as facilitate the creation of our shot list and schedule.

FINAL PRODUCT

TDr. Ng lives and works in Vancouver, CA but his first language is not English. What was once an anxiety-provoking vulnerability - public speaking - is now an strength and passion.

Our VR video tells the story of Dr. Ng turning a great impediment into a significant asset and showcases Dr. Ng’s technical expertise with stylistic flare.

The use of a custom teleptompter rig designed specifically for the new stereoscopic Canon R5C VR180 Dual Fiheye Lens system as well as aerial VR cinematography of British Columbia combine with rhythmic depictions of the clinical environment to tell the irresistable story of dreams realized.
